Health & Safety

Health and safety is the foundation of everything we do. From your first conversation with us through to design, installation, and the long-term management of your renewable energy systems, we prioritise the safety of your people, our installation & maintenance teams teams, the technology and your assets.

We understand that every renewable energy project, whether rooftop solar, ground mount, floating solar, or battery storage, involves unique safety considerations. That is why we go beyond industry expectations, setting higher standards to ensure your installation is secure, compliant, and future proof.

All our staff and installers undergo comprehensive training to the highest standards. Every employee, whether based on-site or in the office, is required to complete our structured training programme, ensuring health and safety remains a priority in every aspect of our operations.

Renewable energy health & safety

Going beyond industry standards

Our approach is built on a culture of safety-first. Every decision we make, every process we follow, and every component we install is designed to protect both people and businesses. Beyond adhering to regulations, we proactively implement best practices that safeguard your site during construction and continue to protect it throughout its 30+ year lifespan.

We also collaborate with nationwide insurance companies to stay ahead of regulations, future-proof your assets, and minimise risks beyond standard requirements.

Key design considerations

Our design function and pre-development team work closely when scoping and projects for our clients, factoring in the following elements to ensure that safety is our top priority.

1

Skylights

Skylights are often classified as fragile surfaces and can present serious fall risks if not properly managed. We mitigate this by removing and replacing trapezoidal sheeting where required or installing permanent skylight protection. We do not rely on temporary solutions, as our systems are designed for long-term safe access and maintenance.

2

Permanent edge protection

Permanent edge protection provides collective fall protection for both solar maintenance and ongoing roof works. It typically costs only marginally more than temporary scaffolding and remains in place for the full lifespan of the solar installation.

3

Fall arrest systems

Where permanent edge protection is not viable, fall arrest systems are installed to protect individuals during maintenance. During construction, temporary scaffold edge protection is used where required to ensure safe working conditions.

Safety at every stage of your renewable energy journey

Preliminary conversations

We support clients in understanding their health and safety responsibilities, including CDM duties. Safety considerations are discussed early to ensure proactive compliance and clear communication from the outset.

Design phase

We ensure all systems are designed with built-in safety measures, from roof access planning to structural integrity checks. Safety considerations are factored into every drawing, design and specification.

Installation phase

Our in-house contracting team follows strict protocols to mitigate risks, protect your workforce, and minimise disruption. Every site is assessed for hazards, with tailored measures implemented to ensure a secure working environment.

Operational phase

Once your renewable system is live, we maintain safety through ongoing monitoring and maintenance. Whether it’s your staff, our engineers, or third-party contractors accessing your roof or system, we ensure the right safety precautions are always in place.

Long-term asset safety

We recognise that renewable energy systems are long-term investments. That is why we provide safety solutions designed to last the lifetime of your installation. From access systems to safe maintenance procedures, we put measures in place to protect anyone working with or around your system – ensuring your business remains compliant, protected, and confident in its renewable energy assets.
