The Milky Way

Substantial cost savings for local amusement park

The Milky Way in Clovelly, North Devon was opened to the public by the Stanbury family as a working dairy farm back in 1984. Still owned and run by the same family, over the years the attraction has developed into a multi-award winning, adventure park. With significant investment in developing new attractions such as two roller coasters, indoor bumpers and the latest attraction ‘Gravity Rider’, the Milky Way has recently been recognised by TripAdvisor as the 4th Best Amusement Park in the UK.

Marten Stanbury, partner in the business told Harvest Green Developments:

“We have proactively embraced renewable energy since 2014 and now have a biomass heating system that covers almost our entire heating and hot water demands and a Solar PV installation that covers over 60% of our electricity usage. Investing in renewable energy was an obvious choice for us, not only because we’re keen to reduce out impact on the environment but also because of the government guaranteed financial incentives and cost savings that they bring.”

“We now also have sustainability boards up around the adventure park promoting all of the various things that we have done to reduce our impact on the environment. This demonstrates to the thousands of people who visit every year that we are a responsible and caring business and hopefully helps to educate and inspire others to help tackle climate change.”

“We approached a few companies to discuss the possibility of a Solar PV installation on site, but for us Sam was an obvious choice. He explained the technology, the benefits and the electricity savings in a way that was very easy to grasp. The installation team where fantastic, we didn’t even realise they were on site throughout the majority of the installation process and this allowed us to run the business without any interruptions.”

“I would be more than happy to recommend Sam and his team!”
